HEREIN in garden

Following the participative survey to the HEREIN network on garden policy (2015 – 22 participating countries), the idea of organising a European event on gardens was officially recorded by the Council of Europe Steering Committee for Culture, Heritage and Landscape (CDCPP). A first meeting of “HEREIN in gardens” correspondents (Belgium-Wallonia, Belgium – Flanders, Spain, France, Italia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Slovakia and the former President of IFLA-Europe), co-organised by the Council of Europe and the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, was held in Paris. During the event, participating countries agreed on the urgent need to build a network of administrations responsible for garden policies in Europe.  This has led to HEREIN gardens.

The objectives of HEREIN gardens are:

  1. Contributing to the building of a voluntary countries network as large as possible;
  2. Promoting the exchange of information and know-how;
  3. Promoting international and national activities on gardens;
  4. Organising European event on gardens in 2018;
  5. Raising awareness of different audiences.

Herein in gardens brings information on:

  1. Gardens at national level (authorities responsible and other actors, legislation, levels of protection, online information, trainings, awareness, thesaurus and bibliography);
  2. Gardens at international level (actors, legislation).
